WASHINGTON (TND) — Legislators, labor organizers and advocates in Illinois are urging President Joe Biden, through a resolution, to authorize the establishment of a parole and work authorization program for noncitizen migrants residing in the state.
Advocates said creating a program is urgent because it would help address the state's labor shortage that is impacting sectors such as health care, education and hospitality.

UNIVERSITY PARK - Penn State University women's gymnastics head coach Jeff Thompson was relieved of his duties Thursday, according to a news release from the university's athletics department.
Thompson was in his seventh year in charge of the program.
The university said assistants Kera Molinaro and Josh Nilson will serve as interim co-head coaches for the rest of the season.
The university would not specify for the reason of Thompson's firing, but Thompson's wife and former associate head coach, Rachelle Thompson, resigned in May after PennLive. Read More...
WASHINGTON (TND) — Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin confirmed Wednesday the U.S. recently decided to withhold crucial weapons from Israel, saying the move has no bearing on its “ironclad” support of the Jewish state.
