Westmont, Greater Johnstown forced to change venue for state playoff games

JOHNSTOWN, Pa (WJAC) — District 6 officials say Tuesday night's PIAA state playoff games involving the Westmont Hilltop girls' and Greater Johnstown boys' basketball teams have been forced to change venue. According to D6 Representative Mike Hudak, a water issue was reported at Hempfield High School, the original site of the games. Local business owners open drive-thru food bank

ALTOONA, Pa. (WJAC) — When Gov. Wolf ordered non-essential businesses to close, putting hundreds of thousands out of work, some business owners from Altoona started talking, asking what they could do to help. “[Anthony] contacted me last Thursday,” said Doug Madden, owner of Doug Madden Pro Services. “We were talking about the community with the crisis going on.” “We just wanted to go and help out anybody that’s in need. PA seeks injunction against 22 restaurants it says defied COVID-19 mitigation orders

HARRISBURG, Pa. (WJAC) — The Department of Health and Commonwealth of Pennsylvania are taking legal action against 22 restaurants they say refused to close their dining rooms during the Wolf administration’s temporary COVID-19 restrictions to prevent holiday spread. The temporary restrictions went into effect Dec. 12 and are set to expire Monday. Under the order, restaurants and bars are prohibited from offering dine-in services at their establishments.
