SEATTLE (AP) -- Former U.S. national team captain and Seattle Sounders striker Clint Dempsey has announced his retirement, effective immediately.
In a statement issued Wednesday by the Sounders, the 35-year-old Dempsey said he believes it's the right time to step away from the game.
Dempsey is tied with Landon Donovan as the greatest U.S. goal scorer, scoring 57 international goals in 141 appearances. He captained the U.S. in the 2014 World Cup in Brazil when the Americans reached the knockout stage before losing to Belgium in the round of 16. Read More...
JOHNSTOWN – The two people who died in Tuesday’s early morning murder-suicide in Richland Township have been identified.
Cambria County Coroner Jeff Lees identified the couple as Amanda Bennett, 20, and Matthew Dunkleberger, 22.
Lees ruled Bennett’s death as a homicide and Dunkelberger’s as a suicide during an afternoon news conference in the Central Park Complex in downtown Johnstown.
Bennett and Dunkleberger, who were in a relationship and lived in a townhome at Aspen Woods, each died of a single gunshot wound to the head, Lees said. Read More...
RIDGWAY - Elk County District Attorney Shawn McMahon announced Wednesday that two women have been charged with supplying drugs that killed a 24-year-old Kaitlyn Buerk in 2017.
Police have filed drug delivery resulting in death charges against Allison Miller, 29, of Byrnedale and Theresa Sample., 27, of Johnsonburg. Officials said Miller is Buerk’s sister, and Sample is her cousin.
McMahon said this is the first time this type of offense has been filed in the county. Read More...
