JOHNSONBURG, Pa (WJAC) — The Johnsonburg Community Center is reopening Monday.
Volunteers are cleaning and sanitizing the entire Elk County facility in preparation for the reopening.
All of the facility's amenities will be available, except for the indoor swimming pool.
The community center has been a Johnsonburg staple for 100 years.
One volunteer explained what the center means to him.
"I think this is the heart of their soul. This is about the only thing they have left in this town that they can use. It's a hundred years old. I think it will be really good to keep it going the way we're going with all of my volunteers and the people putting in the effort to keep it going,” said Jim Lecker.
All materials and equipment are donations from residents and businesses in Johnsonburg.
Volunteers have put in over five-thousand hours so far in getting the facility ready to go.
The project is expected to be completed in the next month or two.
