Commissioners approve feasibility study for improved outdoor rec at Centre Co. Prison

CENTRE COUNTY, Pa (WJAC) — After years of debate and controversy, Centre County administrators are moving forward with their planned feasibility study on whether an outdoor recreational area should be added at the county prison. On Tuesday, following previous approval by the board that oversees the Centre County Prison, the county commissioners decided to bring in a consultant, through a request for qualifications notice, to review adding outdoor rec space at the prison. EF-1 tornado touched down in Weedville this week, NWS confirms

ELK COUNTY, Pa. (WJAC) — The National Weather Service confirmed that a tornado touched down Tuesday in Elk County as severe storms moved through the region. The tornado touched down just before 3 p.m. northwest of Weedville and damaged several trees, the NWS says. Weather officials say pictures show tree damage concentrated along a narrow path along Old Byrnedale Road and Route 255. They say several trees were uprooted or snapped. Read More...

Jury deadlocked, mistrial declared in case of DuBois man accused of child sex abuse

CLEARFIELD COUNTY, Pa (WJAC) — A mistrial has been declared in the case of a DuBois man accused of sexually abusing a girl for over a year after authorities say a Clearfield County jury was deadlocked on a verdict. Police arrested Sean Lechiara last August following an investigation into allegations that he had repeatedly assaulted the victim, beginning when she was approximately 12 years old. Lechiara was charged with over 100 various felonies, including rape of a child, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, aggravated indecent assault, statutory sexual assault and invasion of privacy.
